Disruptive Mobile Learning

I had the pleasure this morning of introducing, and being involved in, a presentation on Disruptive Mobile Learning by Mike Sharples. I was quite impressed with the quality of mobile learning activities currently being conducted in schools. The session has been archived and can be seen here.

Morning in Education

Although I make a point in writing for GoldenSwamp.com not to use this as a political pulpit, this morning I cannot resist commenting on the Presidential Primaries. It was actually reading a New York Times story about President Bush’s State of the Union address that prompted this post. Called “Camelot ‘08 Overshadows Bush Speech,” the story included these observations of the President’s attitude:

There was nothing mournful or valedictory about Mr. Bush’s delivery of his seventh State of the Union address, a speech that acknowledged, however briefly, that the economy is in trouble. Mr. Bush, looking fresh and rested, made a point of sounding good-humored as he delivered less-than-glowing news.

Nightmare of a day (an open letter to Pbwiki and Wikispaces)

Oh boy has this been a heck of a day.

I had an amazing day planned for my kids, with two days of the computer lab blocked off for our use. I was planning for us to spend our time exploring Ancient Rome in Google Earth and making placemarks, adding descriptions, reading the included Wikipedia articles. Notice I said I was planning…

I got to the computer lab to find out that Google Earth was not available to students. My workaround to that had been “fixed” so now I had no workaround.
